Family and Domestic Violence Campaign: Poster Downloads
These resources are the first series of a social media campaigns targeting an end to whanau, domestic and sexual violence. The campaign will be hard hitting but we need to raise awareness at the same time as we need to act and break the cycle of violence in Aotearoa. Stop. Think. Walk Away is a simple message as it highlights the need for those who might be on the brink to pull themselves back.
Take a pause, stop and think about the implications to your whanau and yourself, think about the victim (s) and always walk away.
The second key message is targeted at the adults out there - its about thinking about what impact violent acts can have on our tamariki and mokopuna - in all reality our children hear every word and they can feel every punch, every kick - even if it is not intended for them they certainly know what is going on.
In these cases many of our children end up traumatized but more than that the risk is it becomes learnt behavior that continues into their adulthood.
That is why we need to do as much as we can to change the culture that sees whanau, domestic and sexual violence take hold. Its always ok to ask for help and one such resource is http://www.areyouok.org.nz/ and if you need of help call Call info line 0800 456 450 or in an emergency call 111
